SEEKING THE FOLLOWING ROLES:
LONNY: THIS ROLE IS CAST. SEEKING UNDERSTUDY ONLY. Male identifying, 40’s. The narrator of the piece, charming, mischievous, welcoming, vibrant personality, a guy who would be fun to spend one drunken night with. Strong, honest comedic timing and improv skills, and strong rock vocals.
DREW: Male identifying, 20’s. An appealing, good-guy rocker with great, easy comedic timing, a boyish charm, vulnerability, and a very strong rock tenor voice. Drew is a dreamer looking ahead to capturing his fame and fortune in the world of rock and roll. He works at the legendary Bourbon Room hoping and waiting for his dreams to come true. He finds an instant attraction to Sherrie, the sweet-hearted new arrival from the Midwest, who encourages him to go after his dreams. High and soaring rock tenor (Vocal Range: Bb3-D5)
SHERRIE: Female identifying, 20’s. A fresh faced, innocent Midwestern girl stepping right off the bus into a new world to pursue her dreams of stardom. Strong comedic timing & good movement ability. Sherrie’s story is that of a coming-of-age, where an impressionable girl learns to become a self-reliant and self-possessed woman. Mezzo-soprano with high belt (Vocal Range: G3-F5)
DENNIS DUPREE: Male identifying, 40’s-50’s. A laid-back, easy-going (often stoned) dude who runs the famous Bourbon Room bar where many famous rockers got their start. Torn about whether he should sell the club to the German developers, Dennis is an affable character that goes with the flow and wants nuthin' but a good time. Excellent comedic timing a must. Baritone/Bari-tenor (Vocal Range: D3-A4).
STACEE JAXX: Male identifying, 20’s-40’s. Arrogant, self-absorbed, entitled and spoiled, Stacee Jaxx is the quintessential successful 80s rock star. Self-important and demanding, he struts everywhere, surrounded by his adoring and bizarre entourage, made up mostly of groupies. Confident & intriguing in all the wrong ways, the ultimate bad boy; he is all about sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll. Great comedic timing is a must. Rock tenor (Vocal Range: C3-B4/Eb5)
JUSTICE: Female-presenting (including members of the LGBTQ2S+ community, and members of the Drag Community) 30’s-50’s. A mentor to the lost souls of The Strip, Justice presents as empathetic, understanding and non-judgmental, while also being driven, mischievous, and highly perceptive. Once a performer, they now operate a strip club where Sherrie winds up working. Justice has a strong stage presence, with an easy sensuality about them. Soulful vocals and belt needed. Mezzo-soprano/Alto/Tenor. (Vocal Range: G3-Db5).
HERTZ KLINEMANN: Male identifying, 40’s-60’s. An uptight, cold, intimidating German businessman trying to buy up the Strip to develop it. Driven to create his fortune, Hertz shows no respect for the history of the Strip, the humanity of its citizens, nor the legacy of Rock. He is single-minded, ambitious, gruff, blunt, and relentless. Frustrated by the softness of his son Franz, he works to turn his son ‘into a man’ in order to help Franz have a better future. Larger than life, well-dressed, undaunted, and powerful, he represents the essence of old-world German machismo. Strong comedic timing and baritone vocals. (Vocal Range: F3-A4)
FRANZ KLINEMANN: Male identifying, 20’s. Hertz’s son. Works for his father, but not by choice, as he dreams of running a confectionary shop back in Hamburg. Pressured and intimidated by Hertz, Franz is a gentle soul with a big heart. Finds his voice with the help of Regina. Strong vocals and comedic timing. High rock tenor (Vocal Range: Db3-A4/E5)
REGINA (pronounced Re-GY-Nah): Female identifying, 20’s-30’s. An intelligent, hyped up, earthy and spirited activist. A fierce & passionate force fighting against the spread of corporate greed, Regina worships at the altar of Rock (though she is violently allergic to patchouli oil & meandering guitar solos). Stellar comedic timing and high energy level a must. High pop/rock Mezzo-soprano belt voice (Vocal Range: A3-Eb5).
MAYOR: Any gender, 30's - 50's. Money hungry and a bit of a puppet for the German developers. Will sell their city to the highest bidder. Seeking strong character actor with excellent comedic timing.
JA'KEITH: Any gender, 20's-40's. The owner of 2-Star entertainment, a music "executive" that promises Drew stardom. A strong character actor with excellent comedic timing. Strong pop/rock vocals.
JOEY PRIMO/SLEAZY PRODUCER: Any gender, 20’s-40’s. Joey Primo replaces Stacee Jaxx as the new hot singer of Arsenal. After meeting Sherrie at the Venus Club, Sleazy Producer tries to convince her he can make her a movie star...for a price. Must have a rocker sensibility and ideally some dance/movement ability.
WAITRESS #1: Female identifying, 20’s-40’s. She has been working at the Bourbon Room for a long time. Hard exterior with a kind heart, she befriends Sherrie and is her confidante at the club. Rock belt voice.
CONSTANCE SACK: Female identifying, 30’s-40’s. Character actress, Constance is an inquisitive reporter for Kerrang magazine that interviews Stacee Jaxx when he decides to go solo. She is direct, curious & poised, though perhaps a bit too flirtatious with Stacee.
DANCER ENSEMBLE: Any gender, 20’s-40’s. To play various roles including Bourbon Room patrons & servers, Venus Club dancers, Sunset Strip residents, riot police, protestors, etc. Strong dancers proficient in jazz and modern.
SINGER ENSEMBLE: Any gender, 20’s-40’s. To play various roles including Bourbon Room patrons & servers, Sunset Strip residents, riot police, protestors, etc. Comedic ability, and strong rock vocals. May understudy principal roles.
